Michelle Cove - director, producer, writer

Michelle is the director and producer of the award-winning documentary Seeking Happily Ever After: One generation's struggle to redefine the fairytale (Lionsgate, 2011). Her book Seeking Happily Ever After (Tarcher Pengin, 2010) is based on three years of research for the documentary, and was featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Marie Claire, MORE, and Fox TV. Michelle is the author of I Love Mondays: And other confessions from devoted working moms (Seal, 2012) and co-author of the national bestseller I'm Not Mad, I Just Hate You! (Viking, 1999). She is the founder and Executive Director of MEDIAGIRLS, a nonprofit based in Boston that teaches middle-school girls how to create empowering content for girls and women. Sauli Pillay - editor

Sauli, born and raised in Finland, studied film at the Prague Film School, where he was named Best Editor by the faculty and received the Audience Award for Best Film for his graduation film. Prior to moving to the U.S., Sauli worked as a director, cinematographer and editor on narrative shorts, documentaries, television programs, music videos and commercials in northern and central Europe. In addition to editing One and Only, Sauli is the cinematographer/editor on My Good Name Is Stalin, a feature-length documentary funded by the LEF Foundation and the Sundance Documentary Film Program. Sauli resides in Boston, MA, where he works as an editor, cinematographer and graphic designer on web shorts, feature documentaries, and commercial productions. He is married, and considering the idea of having an only child.

Dan Levine - composer
Dan Levine is a musician, educator, and buffalo chicken aficionado. Music has been of paramount importance to him since childhood and being able to share its awesomeness with others has always brought him tremendous joy. Dan began studying classical cello at 9 years old and was a competitive cellist through graduating high school. By age 11 he was in a touring orchestra and was frequently invited to take part in the annual, highly selective All County Orchestra. At 10 years old he took up guitar and within a few years was playing local venues. He continued his guitar and music education at Clark University, Berklee College of Music, and privately under Grammy nominated jazz guitarist, Jeff Ciampa. Dan has toured extensively, sharing stages with such notable acts as Andy Grammer, Saintseneca, The Books, Landlady, Victor Villarreal, and Tobacco among many others. He continues to record and tour with his projects 3dCosby, Sun Hat, and Akhbar.

Jennie Anisimov - intern

Adopted from South Korea, Jennie is an only child in Boston, Massachusetts. She is currently a freshman at Emerson College and is majoring in Directing for film. Jennie has directed multiple shows at Brown Middle School in Newton, MA including Screens and a collection of short works titled For Your Entertainment. She also worked as the Assistant Stage Manager for their production of The Pirates of Penzance. Having been raised surrounded by theatre, Jennie works to make the transition from the stage to a screen. Little did she know when she started interning that she would end up being a character in this film.
Susan Newman - advisor on only children

Susan Newman, Ph.D. is a social psychologist and nationally recognized expert on only children and other family dynamics. She is the author of 15 parenting books including The Case for The Only Child: Your Essential Guide (Health Communications) and Parenting an Only Child (Broadway Books). Newman is also the founder of Psychology Today Magazine’s “Singletons” blog about raising and being an only child and other parenting issues. She is featured regularly on a wide variety of television and radio shows as well as in magazines and newspapers examining issues concerning only children, debunking myths about family size, and arguing the advantages of being parents to one child.
